My Most Listened to!

DJ Rossstar, via Erica, has asked his blog readers to come up with their Top 5 albums of all time. You know, the record you've been listening to straight through since the day you bought it without skipping a single song. The record that, no matter what musical phase you happen to be in, you will always come back to. The record that's been a constant companion, through thick and thin, good times and bad. (quoted from EveryoneListens) Well this is really tough for me but I will do my best.... I can't really do an order because, well, I like chaos. Here goes:

Lauren Hill- The Miseducation of Lauren Hill

I honestly can't even describe how much this album means to me; 9-years-old but still so fricking good. Her voice, her lyrics, her wisdom and pain. I don't know what else to say....

Rakes- Capture/Release

Whether I'm driving, running, chilling or other 'ing' words, this album NEVER fails to make me break out into a solo dance party. Also, it gives the working class (the people living paycheck to paycheck) a reason to break out into convulsive booty shaking while getting ready for your 9-5.

Fall Out Boy- From Under the Cork Tree

Ahhh.... ok when I first heard "Sugar We're Going Down" I just knew that everyone in the FOB camp felt they had laid a golden egg. I definitely have a "where were you when?" story for this song, as well as the mindset I was in when I bought this album. Its tweeny pop rock melodies marinated with clever double entendres and "I so get it" lyrics.

Saves the Day- Stay What You Are

Ahh this album was released 10 days before my 16th birthday and probably the year that I needed it the most. I was living in WASPtown, USA and starting to get to know myself... I guess. Anywho, Chris Conley almost wrote the entire album which compliments his voice and fits the music. Never a reason to skip songs on this album.

Tracy Chapman- Tracy Chapman

For those of you that read my other blog post titled, "Music Came First, Misery Gave it Meaning" you might recall me admitting that Tracy Chapman is my favorite artist. She is a woman with circumstance and her lyrics are so damn powerful. I remember driving through NYC with my uncle at the age of 5 and singing 'She's Got Her Ticket' at the top of my lungs and wishing I could fly.

Honorable Mentions (in no particular order):

6.The Killers- Hot Fuss
7. Eminem- Marshall Mather's LP
8. Jay-Z- Blueprint
9. Fall Out Boy- Take This To Your Grave
10. Nightmare of You- Nightmare of You
11. Spoon- Gimme Fiction
12. LCD Soundsystem- LCD Soundsystem
13. Annuals- Be He Me
14. Arcade Fire- Funeral
15. Kings of Leon- Aha Shake Heartbreak

I drive a lot so I listen to A LOT of albums!!

To quote Erica: "album that you made a horrible mistake with: fall out boy: fuct"

ERRONEOUS.

Thank you for validating that record for me. It's just such a strong record through and through, and I'm glad you put it in your tops! And you're the second person to borrow my intro! Double validated!
